Sounds like you had low cost (to you) insurance back then. Compared to many people, you still do. In 1994, I was paying over $360/mo for health insurance(self-employed). Health care costs roughly doubled between 1994 and 2009 (as did insurance premiums. Apparently my insurance cost was lower than average in 1994 as the average family premium was $6800. This rose to $12800 by 2009, (ALL pre-Obamacare).
