depends Carlson-of location and cattle-there's a lot of times mass treatment does other things that you miss-some drugs are very good at holding problems off-I had a calf today that I couldn't cure-and ended up calling the vet-we have held off treating cattle with mass treatment and bite us-and have others that never needed anything-every calf is different-I road along with the vet the other day and seen a mess-was 600# steers and I guess it was only 400 head of steers that were weaned and had all there shots that broke with syncytial virus on day 7 in the feedlot- I would guess roo is on the rite tract-but that vet is also a good teacher and help.
It really depends on weather, disease load, lot conditions and a whole list of other things
