Subject: Sale barn vet$ vs. do it yourself

Cullom, Illinois
Up until a few years ago, I had no real working facilities. Just an old wooden head gate. So I've always had the sale barn vet do any treatment that I needed. It was simple and easy. When I put the new barn up a couple years ago, I set up a better working facility with a formost head gate and chute. I've carefully observed my vet and attended several meetings concerning cattle health. I'm pretty good at observing and treating those cattle that get sick. So I think I'm ready to start mass treating. I was wondering what my cost savings would be per head? This would be for a seven way vaccine, wormed, implanted, and an antibiotic such as Draxxin. I would probably buy my meds through my local vet. He treats me well and comes whenever I call. Can I expect to save $40-50 per head?
