Central MN | So a few years back we decided that we wanted to buy our own ultrasound machine. An employee of ours went out of state to Nebraska to do some training on how to use it. We bought the machine in 2012. Using the unit and operating it isn't as simple as we thought. We've worked with our vet so he could teach us how to use it but have found we are not as skilled in defining other parts of cow health with it such as corpase ludiums (not sure how its spelled) or follicles. We have a 240 cow milking dairy also raise beef steers all of our own calves and quite a few acres of cash crop. We have no desire to further learn how to use the machine would just rather rely on our vet to do that part. In 4 years the ultrasound has never left our farm so it has checked 800-1000 cows. The unit new is about $16,000 with a training screen. We have a very good relationship with our vet and want to continue to do business with them. Our vet came to us and has asked if he could purchase it and will pay cash or put it towards credit at his vet clinic whatever we prefer. What is a fair price for the machine?
