Maybe would make more sense if you sell bulls, but then again, I have tried to sell bulls and it wasn't worth it. Then you also have to run a cleanup bull, so are you really saving any?


Just something to think about.  

If you're using maternal bulls to keep replacements, you're giving up pounds at the barn. If you're using terminal bulls to sell pounds, you're giving up long term maternal performance in your replacements. Bulls that can do both at a high level are as rare as hens teeth. AIing pure maternal to your breed of choice and cleaning up with a terminal cross can offset the costs involved by taking advantage of the heterosis bounce, especially if you retain ownership.
