| In a corn abundant and wheat deficit or non-existent area where I'm at wheat will probably never work into our rations. I think that it can replace up to one-third of the corn in the ration and remain flowable in our feed systems, more than that and it would create bridging non flow issues. For academic purposes we could take a look at the price situation cash corn is just ator under 320 here and wheatlooks to be between 390 and 4 but would require some shipping to get here. My guess is if everything else was constant and wheat went down about a dollar a bushel, the feed value with the higher protein content of wheat could offset a small part of the rations protein requirement and the hassle of logistical issues. I really don't think that's going to happen here, but in areas of wheat abundance and corn deficits like western Kansas and Texas feedyards the reality of wheat pricing corn out of the ration seems more realistic. | |
