Bon Homme County, South Dakota | So I finally got confident enough to start working on the 8225R variable fan drive. It is def not as easy as our 8335R. The later models have it pretty easy to grease, just needing to take some shields off, and a hex screw, put zirk in, and grease.
Come to find out, 30 series and early 8R's aren't so easy. Same shields need to be removed, but they way it sounds is the hole where the grease zirk goes is actually behind one of the plates driven by a belt in that area. Talked to a tech and I'm gonna give it a try myself tomorrow. I think I found the 3 bolts that need to come off. One key thing you need to do is release and open a pressure relief cap for the hydraulic fluid in order to be able to pull the plate off. I'll take pictures of the steps as I'm going.
After the 8335R, I'm slightly disappointed with the design of the earlier 8R's.. |
