Hard to tell by the the photos, but when you pull one out does it look like this?
If so, I've been told on here it's black locust. I pulled all mine out (100s of them per colony) by hand and wiped it out a few years ago. Yours looks more established, though. It wasn't hard to pull them out, I don't think any roots went down more than 1" into the ground.
