I have a Holstein dairy cow, third lactation and producing very well. Picture of health. Real friendly cow also. She had a bout of pneumonia as a calf and you can hear he breathing across the barn, real nasty raspy sound.
We call her Wheezy.
I fully expect to come in the barn one morning and Wheezy will be dead in a stall. Until then she keeps producing and comes over for a scratch whenever someone is in the barn.
She is an exception to the rule though. My usual experience with lung damaged cattle is the sooner they are gone the better. |
