What's everyone's preference on electric calf Dehorners? I use a Rhinehart model. Does a pretty good job. I think a cordless one would be nice though too. I'd also like to see one with an indicator light that shows the there's still power going to it. Nothing worse than getting a cord unplugged or coming lose and working with half heat on a couple calves before you realize it. We generally try to dehorn before weaning or soon after for Holstein calves. If I buy feeders or we get behind burning and the horns are to big we'll scoop them and then burn. Nice to see what works for everybody else.


Do the exact same thing. I do however, have the goat tip for the unit, which is very nice for young calves. Have a portable electric Buddex and it's junk. Good for one, maybe two calves before it doesn't do a good enough burn.
