I know nothing about drones but I 'm gonna guess that props have a sweet spot of efficiency , and once you exceed that RPM the efficiency drops. I'm also going to guess that that efficiency band lays somewhere in the mid range of operational rpms, so if you go to full power efficiency drops and battery usage ( for a given distance covered, or altitude gained ) increases.
Best way to extend battery life while flying ?
