Cullom, Illinois | Educate yourself. Go to college. Learn animal nutrition, marketing, ag finance. Intern or work feeding cattle during the summer. If your older and just starting, attend cattle feeding meetings. For me, that meant traveling long distances. Go to summer fairs and make friends with seed stock guys. Ask to ride along with your area vet. Go hang out at the sale barn even if you don't intend to buy anything. Learn the ins and outs. Talk to the auctioneer.
When you go to start feeding, buy a working chute first. You can feed with plastic buckets but without a good way to treat, your asking for trouble. | |
