| I was in your thought position a year ago, so we did it. I ran 4 pigs with a group of angus cows on a 80 which had about 20 acres of wood/low ground. Built a 14x30 pen with hog panels and cut a hole in the side so they could come and go without the cows getting into their grain. In the pens was their hut, feeder and waterer.
Got as feeders in the first of July and slaughtered on 12/28/15 with an average hanging weight of 200lbs. Since these were for ourselves and we are all organic they were given an organic mash mix, used 2100lbs. Total.
They covered a lot of terrain, ate lots of grass and were always very busy. Also got along good with cows and calves. Was good for the woods as they spread everything out. Will defiantly do next summer. | |
