| I think he is asking about running out of feed for a self-feeder, probably because he is not at the feedlot every day. It is not good to not have feed available for a day. A couple hours, might be ok.
My brother is in charge of our small feedlot, and we are now feeding yearlings about 8 lbs of grain per day and grass hay in bale rings. He is not very organized, and sometimes he runs out of feed, and we have to grind feed that day, and feed the calves maybe 3-5 hours later than we normally would. How much would waiting the 3-5 hours effect gain on the calves?
