I was talking with our county extension agent about this (cattleman too). I was asking about buying bulls vs just AIing them and buying a yearling or kill bull to cover what didn't bred and rolling the bull every year. He was in your camp with his thinking, but he was pushing them even out to 4 yrs and $3k bulls.
