Southeast Colorado
I've always thought that the market was the MARKET. By that I mean that we are all pretty much playing on a level field. Because there is no new land being farmed in North America...................the actual value and profitability of any piece of farm land anywhere is built into that piece. If you have irrigated land, regardless of whether it costs $20 an acre to grow 200 bushel corn or $200 an acre (like mine) it is priced into either rent or the original purchase price. Also all factors such as per bushel basis and cost of fertilizer/etc. have determined the market value of your area. Therefore...............all areas are created equal. Some folks just have the benefit through inheritance or profits from another business to have a leg up on others. That too changes as the years pass and generations move forward.
