Subject: El Nino / La Nina primer needed

Jesup, IA
Ok, I hear so much stuff about El Nino / La Nina that it becomes background noise and hard to hear (kind like women's voices? Hehehehe).

If I interpret the charts correctly, we had cold water in the Pacific, and it gets warmer. Cold water in the Pacific is "El Nino"? Correct? Warm water is "La Nina"?

So this warm up creates.......drought, wet, cold, heat (which ones?) ....... to the bulk of the area that grows corn, soybeans and wheat?

My apologies in advance to those who study and have a handle on this. But I could use a primer.
