Columbia Basin, Ephrata, WA		That doesn't look so bad. At least it can grow corn.

I'll nominate some parts of Douglas County, WA as the worst place in the U.S. to farm. Shallow rocky soils in between exposed bedrock islands you have to farm around. Very low rainfall, can only grow wheat every other year at best. Why anyone chose to stop their wagon there is a mystery to me.
