I used the June cash corn (fiat money) price because over the long term (many years) it is the peak price for cash corn in nearly all geographic areas. Attached chart shows 11 years of USDA data for cash corn (fiat money) prices in the IOWA geoprahic area. Notice that average (fiat money) price paid for IOWA June cash corn in 2008 was a few cents lower than you show in your list for that year (2008).

Because commodity money for corn in my model is determined in June of the year following the crop year (commodity money is stored 1 year in those big shiny on-farm bins), it adds a bit of confusion in any model.
