Subject: something everyone forgets.....

East Central, Nebraska
one more point I will make that I have not seen anyone make is why would he (old farmer) or his children ever rent out the ground? that is the one thing I constantly think about when thinking about custom farming. I realize everything seems to bee making a nose dive but a lot of people in that position have no reason to cash rent the ground or put it on shares with anybody because for about the last 5 years it makes no financial sense to not have it custom farmed. being miserable and pissed off for the slight chance to rent something makes no sense to me. the more I think about your post I have to say walk away and keep a good relationship with the family. just read down a couple pages of posts, how often in the last 5 years has the nice guy neighbor got to rent the ground for a reasonable price? here I will save you the time, almost never. your best bet is quit, kiss the families butt a little, and enjoy life. and hope your on the list of bidders when the family turns it over to the land manager for the highest bid. sorry.
