In all actuality you should be charging him for your agronomic services but you are only getting paid to be a custom operator.
I sympathies with you because one of my 1st landlords was this way. He had survived the depression and that mindset was just engraved into him. Great guys from that generation...but they will drive 20 extra miles to save .2 cents on gas for their 5 gallon can.
Could his family talk some sense into him?
I'm assuming you want to keep him happy because you like him and might wanna rent/buy the farm someday? That definatly makes it harder.
