Stringers but with big planks and a stout piece along the outside edge to hold it all together. Only bolt a few planks to the center so everything can flex. Each plank is bolted on each outside.

We used to....long ago....put pallet boxes on them for Potatoes. The loading and unloading with a forklift is hard on the outside. Putting to much down pressure with the Grapple could be find your failure point.
