Subject: RE: Ascend

NE Iowa
I've never tried higher rates then the Ascend label. These 3 plant growth hormones are pretty common in the greenhouse industry. They use really high rates when trying to get cuttings to take root. Ascend at labeled rates has .053 grams of Giberellic Acid (GA3) per acre at the in-furrow rate and .028 grams of GA3 at the foliar rate. Rhyzup is a product that contains GA3 and not the other 2 hormones but its rates of GA3 are up to 0.24 grams per acre at the high rate. Radiate is another similar product but it has no GA3 but it has the other 2 hormones found in Ascend, the IBA and Kinetin. I'm sure the rate could probably be increased some but there is a threshold somewhere you don't want to cross that could actually hurt yield. So I stick with the high side of the labeled rate of the homemade Ascend in-furrow. I usually don't post spray my corn but if I do I throw in the foliar rate of Ascend for a second application for the year.
