Engine horsepower
(HP
) is a function of engine thermal efficiency
(TE
) and fuel flow in gallons per hour
(GPH
)
HP = TE x FUEL FLOW
(GPH
) x 44.2
Engine horsepower is not a function of fuel BTU per gallon. Here is a link to one explanation of the equation for engine horsepower:
