Go back in and ask your nrcs for a wetland determination but tell them you heard tiling was a bad idea. When they ask you to draw out the part of the field you want checked, draw a line around the whole field. Do not delineate the areas you want to tile, let them figue out what part of the field may or may not be a wetland. If it's not a wetland you are in the clear as far as the usda is concerned. Be prepared to appeal if you think they are wrong. Once the appeal window closes there is no going back.
State laws vary, for example, ND only requires a permit if the project is 80 acres or larger.
