Death comes to us all. Life's but a walking shadow
In hindsight it's really is amazing that ethanol in particular and renewable fuels in general ever got a foothold. It was undoubtedly due to the brief period when there was actual concern that petroleum might be limited. There was this once in century confluence of factors, preceived shortage, air pollution concerns and stagnant farm economy that allowed the politics to line up just enough for a competitor to oil to squeeze in. That will never happen again, the petroleum industry will never let that happen again. You can count on that. Simply look at what lengths the Saudi's are willing to go in order to cut out their new competition.
I'm convinced that if farmers ever let the RFS be repealed you will never see it again. Ted Cruz couldn't swear on a stack of bibles high enough to make me believe him.
