Your statement would be true if low oil was bringing down the cost of more than just gas and diesel. Americans aren't going to benefit from lower fuel costs alone. They would benefit from the price of all petroleum based products having a lower price. (tires, paint, engine oil, rubber products and a huge list of other things) The problem is the prices on those products are not going down. At least not significantly. Even shipping costs, which fuel is a big expense, has not gone down.
