Commodity News Service Canada – Brazil could be on pace to export as much as 31 million to 34 million tonnes of corn by the end of the 2015/16 marketing year, according to Pedro Dejneka, the executive director of AgResource’s Latin America division, speaking at the Cereals North America conference in Winnipeg on November 3.
He said the exports were already running well ahead of the pace needed to surpass the previous record for corn exports of 24 million tonnes, set in the 2012 marketing year.
This was despite the fact much of this year’s crop was planted outside the ideal planting window.
He expects this trend to continue as long as the Brazilian Real keeps “getting beat up.”
Dejneka said Brazil is already selling corn for delivery in 2016/17.
