I was told if you catch a big rain. The soil is saturated, you can pull Johnson Grass and the rhizomes will pull out too. Used a hoe crew of 40-50 guys, they put the Johnson grass in piles after they pulled it, then hauled it out of the field on trailers when dry enough. This was a organic wheat field. They let the grass grow up after cutting the wheat in June. That is a local solution. Not sure it will work on your type grass.
