The absolute best time of my life farming has been the last 10 yrs. For a beginning farmer the best time has been the last 10 years. There was no money in the 80s for any farmer. Interest rates were at all time highs. I farmed with my dad, we lived like paupers just to keep his operation going. Back then dads didnt have the ability to start a son up and give him endless acres and free machinery in exchange for labor. Many of us gave cheap labor and had no land we could call our own. We just dug in to save the family farm so that we could work our way into owning the machinery and maybe buy some land in the future. There is no way you can possibly no this, and i hope we dont relive it.
