NW Central Ohio | ..I've got a friend that does the same thing with a 1586. He keeps putting rebuilt alternators on it without looking for a reason why they burn up. You need to closely examine your wiring harness. I just found a bad connection on a truck wiring harness...that was right in front of me for years. Couldn't get it to charge up to snuff...lights would pull the voltage down to 12.1-2 and the fan motor for the heater would run slow. Only thing wrong was a bad connection right at the end of the heavy cable at the alternator. Pulled it off, cleaned it inside and out...and when I reinstalled it I soldered it fast. Volts went right up to 14 and stayed there will all the lights on and heater blasting. Your tractor is probably over 35 years old.....put a new wiring harness on it...they don't last forever. | |
