Marshfield, WI | I would want to get the seed on the ground before the corn head and rear of the combine cover the ground. You want seed to soil contact. We filled in parts of the field where the aerial seeding failed with cereal rye and a fertilizer spread. Even though I turned the choppers off while combining to leave the stalks stand, it took a couple of rains to knock the seed down to the ground. Next year I'm going to try turbo tilling the rye in. | |
