I think if we had more historical data, going back say 250 years instead, say since the end of the mini ice age event that ended when, in the early 1800s, then we could conclude more. But one of these years we will set up for the perfect storm of a short crop, which would include, Lots of land going to CRP, lots of PP, lots of input cuts and then some drought or something, and end up billions of bushels short, which by today's standards would include an 11 billion crop. Who knows, but I do know nobody cares, because the market puts a "ZERO" premium, actually probably a negative premium on any idea of a rainy day fund. which is why, at some point we will have the all out "food for fuel debate" and we will probably lose. |
