Told them things were not looking as Rosey as they had been. I had voluntarily raised the rent prior years and had let them know if things were still looking like they were I'd appreciate some consideration of lowering it down some for 2016/17. We reached an agreement this fall right after harvest that lowered the rent a hair and they offered to pony up some money for some more tile on the farm each year for the next few years. That satisfied me.
Not a huge drop in rent, but I should still be able to break even worst case scenario I believe and stop keep up on fertility applications while doing it .
IMO the time to negotiate rents was before harvest, or at least before the end of the year.
