How much will the demographic shift occurring in the US affect this. As we get an older and older society, spending on most things, except health care, will continue to be under pressure. Are we headed to a post 90's Japanese type economy with stagnant growth? Also related to this is the continual drumbeat and need to have 3+% economic growth. Is this model sustainable without continued population increase and natural resource amount increase?
