I agree that robots and driverless cars/trucks are going to be transformational to the US economy.
Think of what a marriage between Uber and driverless cars would do in a metro area.
Think of what robots would do in restaurants and service industries.
I don't think we need to wait until 2050 to see change happen to the US economy.
And think of the revenue which will be lost to local municipalities if driverless cars become common place and all the road laws are followed?
Think of the change which will happen (and is happening) in retail. Amazon is a real threat to Wal-Mart. I had a Wal-Mart employee share with me recently that Black Friday sales in Wal-Mart will be gone in 5 years. Everything will be online.
