There's also the issue as to whether EPA will even permit higher blends if the catalytic converters and other equipment isn't built to higher standards. For instance the nitric oxide absorbers might need to be higher capacity. Would the EPA require automakers to install that extra capacity on older vehicles.
It's one thing for him to say "no mandate" and "any blend" and it's quite another to make it possible. |
