I used to have a tonner with a hoist, traded it on a better pickup. Then later on ended up with a 12' dump trailer, it is a deck over the wheels so it sits a little taller and will pile the load higher when unloading. I've hauled 2 1/2--3 ton crushed concrete many times.
I will stay with the trailer, lots easier to maintain and less cost than a truck.
