The 245 would be the Magnum line and not the MX line.  The MX units were the first units of the newer body style with the CAPS system.  We had a 240 that we bought used that was a miserable nightmare when it came to hydraulics and electronics.  I don't think we ever had everything working correct on that tractor.  In 08 we traded it for a new 2007 Magnum 245.  The 245 has been rock solid. It has 2,400 hours on it and I has only had one hydraulic remote potentiometer replaced along with regular service.  Its a good strong tractor and lugs good as well.  We just had it Ekotuned this fall too but have not had a chance to try it out since then.

Actually the CAPS system was discarded when they introduced the new line of tractors in '06 with the 215, 245, 275, and 305. The first half of '06 had the new body style, but still retained the MX on the hood along with a few small badging differences, whereas 7/06 and on dropped the MX and went the with Magnum designation. Anything with the new body style (2006+) has a common rail system.

That being said, we have an '05 MX255 with just around 7k hours on it and have never replaced the pump. Clean fuel and regular filter maintenance is what keeps these things ticking. $24,000 is quite a bit of difference in price for the same hours, but it depends on if we're talking a '04-05 MX255 to an '06 Magnum 245, or an '05 MX255 to a '10-11 Magnum 245. A 1-2 year jump shouldn't warrant that kind of price difference, but if it's an early model 255 to a late model 245, that could easily eat up $24,000.
