S Illinois | While his root balls and diagram looks nice, what about the other half of the fine root hairs that cannot be taken when one pulls a stalk out of the ground like that? Those pictures don't exactly match up with all of the roots that are actually in the soil profile. Also if one argues that the roots will concentrate in the band, can one say then that the water uptake is also limited to just the strip? | |
