It's not necessarily applying less than removal rates, but when broadcasting you should be applying more than the recommended rate or removal rate to get the same result as the removal rate banded.
Well said. I guess I must not be wearing my "miners hat", as we are applying more in the strip than Jeffs display shows for broadcast. Our former "shotgun approach" was broadcast 150 lbs MAP and 150 lbs K, and 5 gallons of liquid in furrow. As per agronomist suggestion, (180 bu. yield goal) we backed those rates off by 28%, to 107 lbs. ea. Then we work with the $17 acre the liquid program was costing and use that cash towards treating the MAP with Avail, and a micros package, and with the money that's left, purchase more MAP. IIRC, last year the left over cash from the liquid program bought an extra 41 lbs. of Map, for a total of 148 lbs. banded. I'm all ears from you agronomists out there to tweak our program. We are putting 10 lbs. of EMS in also, and 3 gals. Thiosul in at sideress time. If we were to use Jeffs display rates, could reduce about another 25%, and still leave the miners hat on the shelf?
