St. Charles, MO & Piper City, IL | It has nothing to do with root interception. It has everything to do with efficient application and use of the fertilizer, reduction of runoff and soil erosion control. We are building levels faster with strip till than broadcasting. Applying 10 years of phosphorus at once is not efficient especially as it is tied up to calcium. It adds to more runoff and is being measured in watersheds, streams and rivers. Over application is going to lead to more regulation for all of us. Condemning a practice without practical knowledge of how to use it is not going to help you understand.
