NE Nebraska | I won't disagree that our corn basis has improved over the years. But our poor hillsides need lots of fertilizer too and irrigation is expensive, not to mention it costs a lot to irrigate every year. Tile is CHEAP compared to irrigation, not to mention all the talk of well allotments that are coming so in a dry year we might only get half a crop. Or the fact that one cannot drill a well and irrigate in many places. Rampage, I think many cannot make it work in their own neighborhoods, only to drive 60-90 miles with high hopes only to get another education. I know some people that have gotten educated doing so. I guess in time land will find its true value. | |
