Middle Tennessee | That's interesting, I interpreted the events somewhat like that, but less positively. I've always thought Kerry was useless. Voting for Gulf II in the Senate, losing to Bush II without putting up a fight, it just seems at every critical juncture he fails (same could be said of Hillary--look how her health plan worked out a couple decades ago).
If you're right, Kerry's nod was a well-considered risk. I think it just makes things worse though. The US needs the Turks-Kurds and the Turks-Russians to get along so we can finally go about building a real coalition. Our current coalition only includes states with no interest in confronting ISIS (some say Russia is one of those, but I doubt that). Shooting down that jet just increased the tension between Russia and Turkey, and made the situation more uncontrollable. | |
