68791 | Great question. Essentially it mostly matters who is doing the underwriting on the bond issue. In NE it is most likely Ameritas or DA Davidson, anyone with the local district should be able to indicate who that is. Most likely that underwriter will end up selling the issue to their customers banks/individuals. If they can't get it all sold with their own they may open it up to the open market. So if you really want a piece of said issue you'll want to figure out the underwriting.
By the way, that's an fairly lucrative business. I have no idea what overhead costs are but in looking at a recent NE deal to generate enough cash to refinance 795,000 in bonds the underwriting is getting 38,000 for setting it up. | |
