Southern Illinois | I've noticed that on years like this when the markets seem to trade in a narrow range and grain movement is low, the elevators will improve basis at the lower end of the trading range to entice movement. I will then take advantage of that by fixing basis at that time. Then when futures improve(and basis erodes), I will set the price and pick up a few cents. At current prices and narrow trading ranges, a few cents matter. | |
