Not if u are a cash basis taxpayer. If that were the case your grain in your bins would be mark to market as well.
1099s do give the mark to market amount because that is the figure used by accrual basis tax payers and those with speculation accounts. Spec accounts are indeed taxed on a mark to market basis.
