I think that is the idea with LIFTR. To get rid of or overcome a lot of the dangers and problems with conventional nuclear energy. Remains to be seen if it will live up to expectations, but progress is being made. We should know for sure in ten or twenty years.

You are exposed to radiation every time you fly in an airplane.
