Dayton, IA | I don't know for sure that basis bought lots of corn, just a guess. When I started hauling, end of November (because of good basis) never saw another truck there. The day I noticed other trucks and a line starting, basis widened. Now the flood of trucks started and basis is not getting better. I just don't think basis would have narrowed so tight if all the corn was contracted a long time ago. If they knew the corn was coming, the basis would have stayed wide. Just my opinion. The buyers had to narrow basis to get the corn to move. Not saying some wasn't sold ahead, but the majority of it was probably sold because basis and the spreads said so - also lots of Coop trucks, always seems like if you are in line with coop trucks you probably did ok on basis.
