I am going to a chiro in Ames. He is not rough and when I'm having issues, I may have to go to him 3 times a week to get things fixed. He tells me there are 10 layers of muscles in your lower back and you have to work on them a little at a time to get to the problem. I have been to a " back specialist" that was going to give me a recommendation after the evaluation. He ended up reading the wrong patient's chart to give me his recommendation, so he had to find my chart then email me the plan. I didn't trust him if he cannot read the correct chart, so I never went back to him. Another back Dr. gave me the option of physical therapy, a steroid shot in the lower back, surgery or not do anything at all. I left that office and made an appointment to see my chiro the next morning. I have confidence that if my chiro thought I needed a medical Dr, he would advise me of that. I agree that some chiropractors can get too aggressive.

We all have had back problems. The thing to bring out here is if you have nerve problems, that include
numbing down your leg. Many times those things do not get better but only degrade. It is hard to bring
this back, if ever.

That is more than your average chiropractor can help, I have been through the total drill.

Sometimes surgery is needed, so don't be afraid of that. I agree check around, I was pleased
with my outcome. I just had a simple discectomy , an invasive microsurgery, Lumbar 4, very common that
is where the injury is, lower back. I had only one overight stay, I had numbing in my leg, had to do something, now very happy 8 years
later.
